Cinderella, played by Reilly Schoening, rides in her carriage to the ball and the possibility of meeting the prince of her dreams during a dress rehearsal of Cashmere High School Drama Department's "Cinderella" Jan. 27. Opening night was Thursday Jan. 28. The final two performances are tomorrow, Feb. 4, and Saturday, Jan. 6.

Fairy Tale Comes to Life
With the wonder of a fairy tale the Cashmere High School students performed Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical Cinderella.

Opening night was on Thursday, Jan. 28. There are two more performances on Feb. 4 and 6 at 7 p.m. at Cashmere Middle School. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors.

County proposes $2 million emergency operations center

During the Sleepy Hollow wildfire this past year, the Chelan County Emergency Management Department did not have a space it could readily use as its operations center to coordinate the response efforts.

During a tour of the fire, 12th District Representatives Brad Hawkins and Cary Condotta and Sen. Linda Evans-Parlette agreed that there is a need for a dedicated and modern emergency response center that would serve Chelan and Douglas counties.

Council cans garbage collection
The Cashmere City Council unanimously voted, on Monday, Jan. 25, to directed staff to evaluate the proposals of the two garbage service providers as the next step in discontinuing the service from the city.

Forum lets high-density power users share their side of the story
Bitcoin miners, server farms and landlords who have spent millions prepping buildings to accommodate high-density power users are getting an opportunity to make their case about the public benefits of the industry at a Feb. 3 community forum.

Criticism of the high-density load (HDL) power users includes concerns that server farms and bitcoin miners provide relatively few jobs to offset the costs of tying up power that could be sold on the market or used by other industries that would produce more jobs.

CTL grows to five teams
The Caribou Trail League will add Okanogon as a fifth team next year.

Okanogon High School's enrollment numbers have increased so it can compete in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association's single A division instead of the two B division.

The enrollment numbers are not official yet, Cashmere School District Athletic Director Jeff Carlson said. It will be finalized by next week.

Bulldogs top Omak, Cascade to lead league
Cashmere remains undefeated in conference play after its crushing 68-9 victory over Cascade on Saturday, Jan. 23.

Junior Abbie Johnson, in her first game back off the disabled list, knocked the tip off to Sophomore Kami Knishka. Knishka ran it to the basket but missed the hole. Senior Makenna Faulkner was there to grab the rebound and sink the shot for two, putting the Bulldogs on top 2-0 in the first 15 seconds of the game.

Strong defense, foul shots lead to 52-39 victory
The Bulldogs defeated the Chelan Goats, 52-39 at their first home meeting of the year on Friday Jan. 15.

Chelan scored first with 7:02 left in the first quarter. Cashmere quickly answered putting up two points of their own.
