Had enough yet?

Bill Forhan

So now that the mid term elections are looming all those Democrats who were looking out for you by voting for Obamacare, before they knew what was in it, are hoping you'll forget. They are hoping you will forget that it was them and not those radical Tea Party Maniacs that cooked up this plan to expand government services.

And to help you forget that it was their lies and broken promises, they are now trying to pass a law to help you keep your insurance for - one more year. Not permanently, not until you decide you want to change, one year. Of course even that is a disingenuous offer because it is unlikely the insurance companies can resurrect those old plans. So, ultimately they will blame those evil insurance companies for cancelling your policy. They weren't responsible!

But hey, they mean well. They are the ones who are looking to make your life easier. They are the ones that want a $15 minimum wage, free health care, free cell phones, more food stamps, etc., etc.

The reality is that the promises may never end but the ability of the economy to sustain this socialist utopia never works. It has failed everywhere it has been tried.

We are witnessing another example of the socialist lie. Obamacare was bound to fail. It is economically un-sustainable.

We had the best health care system in the world. A system that allowed individual consumers the ability to choose for themselves how they would provide for their own health care needs. They even had the choice to do nothing and hope they didn't get sick, but if they did they could always put themselves at the mercy of the public system.

Despite what you've been told, no one in this country is without health care. If they needed it they could walk into any hospital and receive care. Yes it put tremendous pressure on hospitals who often had to write off substantial amounts of potential revenue for indigent care. But no one was turned away and told to go home and die because they didn't have insurance.

Could they go bankrupt because they got sick? Of course. Their individual decision to bet on their health was still their free choice and bankruptcy isn't the end of the world. Bankruptcy is designed to give you another chance by discharging your debts.

The Affordable Health Care Act is a failure. It will implode. It was designed by a group of elitist, over educated bureaucrats that have no experience in health care or insurance. They refused any input from Republicans or industry representatives. Their purpose was never to reduce the cost of health care or insurance.

I'm sure some Democrats believed they were doing it to improve the quality of life for their constituents. But they had no way to test their theories because they would not include anyone who disagreed with them in the drafting of the law.

There can be no doubt about why the American people are so upset with Congress. They are not just upset because of the Republican resistance. They are clearly equally upset with the Democrats who are so out of touch with the American people. Most of the Republicans are equally out of touch.

Fortunately, our system of government gives us - the American people - a way to fix the problem. It is past time to reign in the federal government. It is time to take some drastic action and replace them all.

Next year we will get that opportunity once again. If you've had enough of the lies and unkept promises it is time to step up and vote them all out. Vote for anyone but the incumbent. Get involved, send letters to your representative that they might as well resign because they have failed to properly represent your interests. We cannot replace the entire Congress in one election but I guarantee if we are able to eliminate a significant portion of the current crop of representatives. The message will be heard by the rest.
