In the 8-11 Echo Mark Lindstrom agreed with me that we should shut down the two Mideast wars and bring our troops home. These wars are counter- productive to our real national self defense and we just cannot afford to try to save the Muslim barbarians from themselves anymore. Vinje's facts flawed

If you look on the Internet, you will find that the major portion of Renate Vinje's letter to the Echo last week is a copy of the website at www.politicalislam.com/tears/pages/tears-of-jihad/ (this website is quoted all over the net, also, for instance, at The American Jingoist). Judge not

Recently the Echo publisher wrote that he opposed the building of a new Islamic center near Ground Zero in New York City on the grounds that the "Muslim faith is not one of peace and tolerance" and "tolerates murder, abuse of women and children and religious hatred." This language is wrong and dangerous. To characterize all Muslims as "tolerating murder" etc. is to invite and condone fear and "religious hatred." Following 9/11, President George Bush was careful not to use language that would promote fear of all Muslims. Mr. Forhan would do well to follow President Bush's example. Further, he should remember that among the victims and the first responders to the 9/11 attacks were Muslims. Mr. Forhan owes them and all moderate Muslims an apology.
