Thank you, Mother Nature!
The blizzard of the century finally did what the Republicans were unable to do - shut down our runaway federal government.

Unfortunately, the shutdown will be too temporary. In a few more days the Washington establishment will be back at work trying to fundamentally change America.

Governor Inslee wants your guns
The little mini-dictator in Olympia is working hard to emulate his idol in D.C. Now he's issued his own executive order to "gather information" and take steps to keep "firearms out of the hands of people in crisis."

Facts be damned ...
Last week the Department of Ecology announced its plan to implement the first-ever limits on carbon pollution in the state. Just so we are clear here, carbon "pollution" is environmentalist speak for carbon dioxide. DOE's plan is to have the largest employers in the state reduce their carbon dioxide emissions by 5 percent per year.

The first undeniable fact is that carbon dioxide is a required element in our atmosphere. It is not a pollutant. Describing CO2 as a pollutant is nothing more than a cheap political trick to get the uninformed behind a scheme to support this dangerous agenda being pushed by the environmentalists.

City needs to redefine value
After reading Cashmere Valley Record's article "City boosts Blue Star's water rate to current levels," (Dec. 23, 2015) as a grower member of Blue Star, I feel I must respond.

Cashmere Mayor Jeff Gomes and city council members Jim Fletcher and Skip Moore conveniently left out the "value" of the other half of the agreement in presenting information at the Dec. 14 council meeting.

Mayor Gomes, you asked Blue Star to bring "something of value" to the table. Mayor Gomes, is there "no value" in the 352 acre feet of water used to increase the population of Cashmere to its present size?
