Aouda Lovila Hansen Hill
Aouda Lovila Hansen Hill
March 8, 1949 - September 16, 2013

O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good: for his mercy endureth forever. (Psalm 136:1)

As the final words of Victory in Jesus hung in the air, Lovila passed into Eternity. Surrounded by her four children and her husband, she slipped into the fullness of Joy after a short but agonizing battle with cancer.

Even in her suffering, Lovila proclaimed the goodness of our God and was able to share her faith, her joy and her wisdom nuggets with each of us.

Born the fourth child of William James and Thelma Gae Ponsford in Salem, Oregon on March 8, 1949, she was welcomed into this world by her three older siblings, and quickly became everyone's beloved baby sister.

Always up for an adventure, and aptly trained for such by her parents and boisterous and mischievous brothers and sister, she grew to love all things outdoors. She loved camping, hiking, skiing, wildlife and in her later years, her beloved little cabin in the mountains of Cashmere. Here the hummingbirds could be found faithfully flitting between the feeders and the bounty of flowers overflowing the hanging baskets and deck railing planter boxes. It was here, looking out the picture windows of her peaceful respite that she spent her last days.

Lovila poured her love into each of us through her lavish and exquisite cooking, her ability to put polish and panache into everything, her refined sense of manners and propriety and her knack for filling her sphere of influence with things of beauty.

She taught us to believe, to trust, to work hard, to sacrifice, to achieve, to persevere, to respect and honor, to obey, to laugh, to love and to live for God and not ourselves. She taught us to sit at the feet of Jesus every day and pull our strength from Him.

We learned much from our mother, but above all, we learned to trust our Jehovah Jirah-our Provider with all that we are and have. She is resting now with our Savior

She is survived by her husband, Carl Hill of Cashmere; her children, Valina Hansen of Haines, Alaska; Linette Sarber of Marysville, Washington; Torrey Hansen of East Wenatchee and Trisha Wockenfuss of Port Orchard, Washington; her brothers, Jay Ponsford of Salem, Ore.; Darrel Ponsford of Summerfield, Fla.; her sister, Charlotte Shawver of Sedro Woolley and her 17 grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 20, 2013 at Calvary Bible, 605 1st Street, Wenatchee, Wash. A reception followed at the church and with graveside services at Peshastin Cemetery at 3 p.m. Visitation was held on Sept. 19 at Jones & Jones ~ Betts Funeral Home.
