October is adopt-a-shelter-dog and pit bull awareness month
Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month is an ideal time to adopt a canine friend, especially from the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society. Not only do we have dogs of all colors, shapes and sizes, they've all been temperament tested so you know what you're getting into. Are you looking for an exercise buddy? A best friend for your child? A fuzzy face to greet you after a hard day at work? An adopted dog can be all of these things and so much more. "I encourage you to adopt a dog from our shelter and experience the joy they can bring to your life." says Dawn Davies, Executive Director.

In addition to being Adopt-a-Shelter Dog Month, it's Pit Bull Awareness Month, too. "We provide care and find homes for hundreds of Pit Bulls every year," says Karen Headlee, Director of Shelter Operations. "We continue to help this wonderful breed of dog and want to shed light on many of the myths surrounding Pit Bulls." To celebrate Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog and Pit Bull Awareness Month, the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society is offering free gifts with each dog adoption and a discount for each Pit Bull adoption, each decided by rolling the dice! Come down to your shelter at 1474 South Wenatchee Avenue and discover what an adopted dog can mean for you.

Founded in 1967, the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society is the only animal shelter serving Chelan & Douglas Counties, providing care for displaced pets. Other services include rescuing injured & lost animals, spay/neuter services with each adoption,
