Cashmere

After the fires workshop

Wenatchee Valley and Cashmere homeowners and property owners who live within the area burned or adjacent to the burn area and might be affected by runoff. This will be the only meeting in the immediate area this fall that will address these issues. The agencies who can help and advise homeowners and property owners will be present to answer questions and provide assistance and resources as needed. Speakers will include representatives from city of Wenatchee, Chelan County, USFS, NRCS, DFW, DNR and more. Information about national Flood Insurance will be available as well. Kiwanis Club Halloween party

Join the fun at the Cashmere Community Halloween Party from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the Cashmere Fire Station on Cottage Ave. Sponsored by Wacoka of Cashmere Kiwanis Club. Benefit dinner

The Chelan County Fire District 3 Volunteer Firefighters Association is hosting a benefit dinner for Dan and Sue Elderidge from 5 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 14 at CCFD main station. Dan and Sue have been volunteer firefighters for many years. Sue has been fighting a cancer battle since 2011 and her battle has just grown harder. Money raised will help the family with medical and other expenses. Baron of Beef, baked potato, salad, bread. $12 for individual or $20 for couples. Call 548-7711. (er43,44)

Halloween party

The Leavenworth Community United Methodist Church is holding a Halloween/Harvest Party from 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 28 at the church on 418 Evans St. For children, ages 2 to 11. They will have games and goodies available for children. All are welcome to attend. Call 548-5619. (er41,42,43)

Make Difference Day Food Drive

Volunteers will collect non-perishable food items to replenish and bolster the supply at the Community Cupboard and benefit the Wenatchee based charity, Vets for Vets. On Saturday, Oct. 27 starting at 10 a.m. residents can expect a knock on their door from volunteers collecting food, or they may place a clearly labeled "food drive" grocery bag on their front step for pick up. Those who wish to donate, but live outside Leavenworth, may drop food off at 10170 Titus Road between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday. For information, call Matt 393-6297. (er43)

Women's Exchange luncheon

The Leavenworth Women's Exchange monthly luncheon meeting will be held on Nov. 14 at Visconti's at the Brewery, 636 Front St. Cost of the luncheon is $14 for members and $16 for non-members. Beverage, tax and gratuity are included. Laura Hansen from Kris Kringl will present a program titled "Holiday Decorating Ideas." Fashion Fling

Chapter JF of PEO (a philanthropic educational organization) invites you to our second annual Fashion Fling to be held on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Wild Huckleberry, Leavenworth Golf Course on Icicle Road. Free cancer prevention screenings

The Breast, Cervical and Colon Cancer Program is funded by the WA State Department of Health and CDC to provide free cancer prevention screenings for women age 40-64, non insured or underinsured and who's income meets program guidelines. Wenatchee Valley Medical Center is the prime contractor for women who reside in Chelan, Douglas, Grant and Okanogan Counties. Coat for kids drive

Wenatchee Valley Coats for Kids will be collecting new and cleaned coats in good condition for school age kids, preschool through high school. Hats, gloves and scarves are also welcome. Coats can be dropped off at The Wenatchee World, Albertsons and American Family Insurance/Tim Hedding Agency in Wenatchee or at the Wenatchee Valley Mall and Merrill Orthodontics in East Wenatchee.
