Gifts for vets

Cashmere American Legion Auxiliary #64 is looking for deployed local soldiers' addresses to send care boxes for the holidays. If anyone has a loved one deployed or knows of one, please leave the address with the Cashmere Post Office or call Linda Ingraham, 679-0243. There is also a collection box at the post office for donations of holiday care items for the boxes. (er48)

Cashmere Art and Activity Center

Featured artists for the month of December will be our local artists, artisans, and crafters. Please come to view, or buy an original Christmas gift. On Dec. 8, we will hold our monthly Second Saturday celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Music will be provided by Sharon Browder of Music Theater, and the Wenatchee Senior Singers. Refreshments served for our guests. For the gift exchange, please either bring a gift that costs less than $10 or one that is handmade. Door prizes all evening. Bullying Prevention Information Night

Come to Cashmere Middle School at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Information will be presented by Canfield, a third-party administrator to United Schools Insurance Program, of which Cashmere is a member.

Some issues that will be addressed include, the importance of bully awareness and the types of bullying behaviors, Cashmere School District's responsibility to prevent bullying and provide a safe school environment, moral/legal responsibilities of the family to insure safe behaviors, including on-line and how families can stay involved with their kids. We hope to see you there, with the intention of working together to decrease the unnecessary hurt our kids are experiencing. (er47,48)


Go a Little Nutty!

Create your own Nutcracker design and enter it to win $1,000. The Leavenworth Nutcracker Museum is sponsoring A Nutcracker Day in Leavenworth with a contest to create a unique way to crack a Hazelnut. Christmas lighting - locals night

Local's night Thursday, Nov. 29. Christmas Season kicks off as local residents are encouraged to shop locally! Red Cross Blood Drive

Cascade High School Students are sponsoring the American Red Cross Blood Drive from 1 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Leavenworth Firehall, located on the Chumstick Highway across from the High School. Holiday Open House

A Holiday Open House, old fashioned Christmas is happening at Upper Valley Museum, 347 Division St. from 1 to 4 p.m. on Nov. 29,30. Enjoy hot spiced cider, hot chocolate, holiday cookies and candy canes. Bring your camera and take pictures by the old fashioned Christmas tree. Purchase your gifts from our "Plumes of the Past" Museum gift store and we will wrap your gifts for free. There are many interesting books, ornaments, cards, jewelry pieces and a variety of other items to choose from. The Museum will have a handmade centerpiece to raffle off. View the History museum. Opera on Tap

Dec. 1, 6 p.m. at Icicle Creek Center for the Arts. Local singers let their hair down and bring you into what feels like an afterhours back stage party, singing some of opera's best known and little known pieces in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Shopping day fundraiser

The Upper Valley Historical Society board will be sponsoring a downtown shopping day fundraiser to help support the Upper Valley Museum, on Thursday, Dec. 6, during business hours. Locals are encouraged to shop and dine-out this day. Visitors to Leavenworth are also welcome to shop and help-out the museum. This is the second annual event and participating business owners will donate a portion of that day's sales back to the museum. All upper valley businesses are urged to participate. Shoppers can identify participating businesses by seeing a UVHS poster in a storefront or window. A list of participating businesses will also be published in the Leavenworth Echo. Women's Exchange Christmas Party

The Leavenworth Women's Exchange annual Christmas party will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. at The Wild Huckleberry at the Leavenworth Golf Course, 9101 Icicle Road. The cost of dinner is $23 per person. Each person brings a small gift ($15 limit) to exchange. Invite a friend and enjoy an evening of wonderful food, socializing and our renowned gift exchange. Storage space needed

The Autumn Leaf Festival Association is in desperate need of a climate controlled storage space to store the AL Float. Previously, the float was stored in the old fruit warehouse that is being torn down to provide parking for visitors. If you have space that could be used by ALFA call Glenn Holmes at 548-5201. Village Voices Concerts

Let's Go For A Sleigh Ride! Village Voices will be presenting their annual Christmas concerts at the Church of The Nazarene, 111 Ski Hill Drive, Leavenworth on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 4 p.m; Thursday, Dec. 6; Friday, Dec. 7; and Friday, Dec. 14. Concerts begin at 7 p.m. Tickets for the Sunday matinee concert on Dec.2 will include a special rate of $28 for families and $12 general admission. Evening concerts are $14 for adults and $12 for students ages 5-18. Children five years and older are most welcome. Concerts will include light holiday tunes, classical Christmas favorites combined with the Leavenworth Christmas Brass, Bev Cagle's Kinderchor, cellist Sally Singer Tuttle, pianist and percussionist Steve Morton, and the Living Rivers Quartet. Pancake breakfast with Santa

Friends of the Peshastin Library and the Peshastin Community Council are sponsoring their fifth annual Pancake Breakfast with Santa from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Legion Hall in Peshastin. The North Pole menu includes pancakes with warm syrup and butter, bacon, sausage, Crunch Pak sliced apples, Starbuck's coffee, and Tree Top apple juice. The price is $4 for children age 12 and under and $6 for adults. Santa arrives at 9 a.m. on the fire truck thanks to the Peshastin Volunteer Fire Department. Santa will be giving goodie bags to all the children. Four gingerbread houses will be raffled. Pancake breakfast fundraiser

The Lake Wenatchee Fire District #9 Auxiliary will hold their annual Pancake Breakfast, Bazaar and Basket Raffle on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Lake Wenatchee Recreation Club (14400 Chiwawa Loop Road, Lake Wenatchee). Come join us for breakfast from 8 a.m. to Noon; Adults $5 and children 12 and under $3. The bazaar will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with lots of great Christmas gift ideas. Raffle tickets for a large selection of gift baskets will be available during the breakfast or stop by the Just Plain Grocery to preview some of the baskets and purchase advance raffle tickets. Art exhibition

Grunewald Guild and St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 428 King St., Wenatchee have coordinated efforts to bring In Habit exhibition of art, and workshops for all persons who are interested.
