Museum closed for remodeling
The Upper Valley Museum in Leavenworth will be closed January and February for remodeling. Plans are to reopen the museum on March 1. There will be an event to commemorate the reopening. (er05)
Empty Bowls Art Grants
Empty Bowls Art Grant applications are now being accepted. Closing date for applications is March 12. Teachers and community members who work creatively with local children and youth are encouraged to apply. See the Upper Valley M.E.N.D. website (uvmend.org) for details and application form. (er05)
Free babysitting on Valentine's Day
Cascade Mountain Bible Church, 11025 Chumstick Hwy., wants to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day by offering free babysitting on Feb. 14 from 5 to 9 p.m. for children ages 2 to 12 years old. Valentine's Day Baroque
On Valentine's Day, Thursday, February 14 at 7 p.m. the Cascade Early Music Festival and Faith Lutheran Church present Valentine Baroque, featuring soprano Linda Tsatsanis, harpsichordist Jan Weinhold from Luebeck, Germany and baroque flutist Jeffrey Cohan. Leavenworth Women's Exchange luncheon
The Leavenworth Women's Exchange monthly luncheon meeting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Visconti's, 636 Front Street, Leavenworth. Cost of the luncheon is $14 for members and $16 for non-members. Beverage, tax and gratuity are included. Wenatchee Valley Erratics Chapter, Ice Age Floods Institute will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 at the Wenatchee Valley Museum, 127 South Mission, Wenatchee. Central Washington University Geology lecturer and TV host Nick Zentner will discuss "Ellensburg: On the Doorstep of Ice Age Floods Country." After introducing basics of pre-Pleistocene geology in the Ellensburg area, Zentner will present a unique approach to the Ice Age Floods story, using video clips from recent TV interviews.
