Chelan PUD Board to tackle budget planning, major contract decisions

WENATCHEE - The Chelan County Public Utility District Board of Commissioners will meet on Monday, October 7, at the Service Center, 203 Olds Station Road in Wenatchee. The meeting comprises a study session starting at 10:00 a.m. and a business session beginning at 1:00 p.m. Both are open to the public.

The study session agenda includes updates on the district's fiber network, the Beebe Park project, and the district's wildfire mitigation plan. Commissioners will discuss the Fifth Street redevelopment project and receive an update on the transmission tariff.

The strategic vision, business, and budget planning segment will cover follow-up discussions on rate planning and a review of the district's business plans.

During the business session, commissioners will consider several resolutions. One resolution involves ratifying field work orders and authorizing final acceptance of work performed under Bid No. 23-12745 with Dimensional Communications, Inc. of Mount Vernon, WA. This contract, initially valued at $968,759, increased by $67,084 through change orders, bringing the total revised contract price to $1,035,843.

Another resolution proposes declaring G&W Electric Company of Chicago, Illinois, as the sole source supplier of Viper reclosers for the district's distribution systems. This relates to the district's pursuit of Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS).

The board will also review a proposal to extend a contract with Altec Industries, Inc. for the upfitting of district-supplied chassis. The proposed change order would extend the contract term to June 30, 2029, and increase the contract amount by $3,265,000, resulting in a revised total of $4,100,000.

Public comment periods are scheduled during both the study and business sessions for matters not covered by the agenda.
