Community Foundation seeking local advisory board volunteers

Posted

WENATCHEE - The Community Foundation of NCW is seeking new volunteer Local Advisory Board members to review and make decisions on local grants impacting their communities through its Legacy Fund Grant program, which focuses on place-based, community-centered grant distribution to charitable organizations throughout North Central Washington.

Legacy Funds provide grant funding by their geographic regions in Cashmere, Chelan Valley, Methow Valley, Okanogan Valley, Upper Valley, and Wenatchee Valley. These funds have been established by legacy gifts from donors who wanted to leave a meaningful gift to their community beyond their lifetime along with living donors who want to give back to their community.

Each Legacy Fund has a Local Advisory Boards (LABs) comprised of community volunteers who have responsibility for reviewing applications and awarding grants. They aim to represent a broad and diverse cross section of each community, including a mix of long-time and newer residents, working and retired individuals, donors, volunteers, and community members. Advisors provide leadership and input, recommend grants to benefit each community, help grow the funds, and inspire people to leave a legacy in their local community.

Local Advisory Boards provide opportunities for more local community members to become involved in community philanthropy. Working alongside the Community Foundation and other advisors to evaluate grant applications from their local nonprofit organizations, volunteers achieve a deep understanding of the needs and assets in their communities. Serving on a LAB also gives individuals an opportunity to become ambassadors for growing local resources that local communities in NCW will need to thrive, for generations to come.

Learn more about Local Advisory Boards and apply at https://cfncw.org/localadvisoryboards/. Application deadline is March 1.
