Founders’ Days Car Show ramping up to be largest in event’s history

CASHMERE- As the annual Cashmere Founders’ Days celebration approaches, the Mission Creek Community Club (MCCC) anticipates one of their largest turnouts to date for their holiday weekend car show following high numbers of pre-registrations.

Event organizer Nick Wood expects the event to be especially successful this year, saying, “We think the word must have gotten out early this year because we have 60 people pre-registered, which is more than previous years.”

Wood explained that despite pre-registration already being at an impressive sixty participants, many more are planned to arrive impromptu on the day of the event, “we usually get around 130 to 140 cars, but I’m hoping 150 this year as long as we keep getting this sunny weather.”

Each and every kind of car is welcomed to the show. As a result of this, the event receives a wildly diverse roster of participants each year. Wood revealed that this year is no different when he expressed his anticipation for a car in the event, saying, “We got a wide variety; we welcome any car. I’m looking forward to a Dodge Viper I saw registered, but I also saw that someone had registered a Tesla Cybertruck, so that’ll be one the young people might like.”

MCCC is also working alongside local first responders to bring an interactive touch-a-truck program to the event, allowing community members to see up-close examples of the impressive equipment and vehicles used to save lives.

Wood described the plans for the interactive program with excitement, explaining, “I have around ten vehicles for the touch-a-truck, [including] fire, paramedic, and state patrol… kids can go and jump in them; it’ll be fun.”

Wood also shared that all proceeds to the MCCC go back to the community through various charity initiatives, stating, “All the money we make goes to scholarships for Cashmere kids. Or, if we see a local family in need, we use the money to help them out.”

The car show will take place on  June 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m in downtown Cashmere. There will also be live music, snowcones, and barbecue served throughout the event for those needing a rest stop.
