The Huckleberry’s wild about Cashmere with new Cafe location at Apple Annie’s

Posted

CASHMERE — At this point, if you haven’t been to at least one of the locations or variations of the Wild Huckleberry in the Wenatchee Valley, you’ve been missing out. Now they’re set to open their newest location — and version of the eatery — in the same diner next to Apple Annie’s in Cashmere that once housed the ‘59er Diner and Jasmine’s.

The long-awaited opening finally came on April 15 at 8 a.m.

The original restaurant on Mission Street in Wenatchee has been in business for 25 years, and during that time, they’ve expanded into The Huck at Pybus, a smaller dining area that’s one of the most popular spots inside the Public Market, taken over the Big Y Cafe in Peshastin and opened Huckleberry North at the site of the old Dusty’s In and Out on North Wenatchee Avenue.

The Cashmere iteration will be called the Huckleberry Cafe, and although there’s no menu publicly available yet, employees say that it will be a mix of all the locations. With hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., they’ll offer meals for any time of day.

A stroll inside the nearly-there restaurant tells you that it’s going to have décor for sale just like the original location in Wenatchee, and that the owners Eric and Angie Decker are honoring the history of the location: The classic sign for milkshakes remains, as well as the front end of the yellow 1951 Studebaker Champion sticking out of the wall above the window where servers retrieve your meal.

The Wild Huckleberry has had the Midas touch so far, and done more than just open new places to eat. They keep extending the life of Wenatchee Valley landmarks, and expanding their culinary reach as they grow.

With their fifth location, you can spend the afternoon looking through the aisles of antiques at Apple Annie’s and then sit down for lunch at the Huckleberry Cafe and feel right at home.
