Cashmere High School student arrested for threatening school shooting

CASHMERE - In a concerning incident on the evening of Oct. 18, a Cashmere High School student alerted the school's principal about a threat. A 17-year-old student reportedly told a peer he intended to shoot at the school, with the reporting student being the first target. Detailed plans for the potential attack accompanied the threat.

Prompt and thorough action ensued as the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office detectives swiftly responded to the incident. A comprehensive investigation corroborated the seriousness of the threat, leading to an immediate search warrant being secured and executed at the student's residence in Cashmere.

Law enforcement took the student into custody, subsequently booking them into the Chelan County Juvenile Justice Center. The charges against the student include "Harassment Threats to Kill" and "Threats to Bomb or Injure Property."

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office has reassured the community that there is no indication of additional threats to public safety or other students.
