Cashmere Track and Field Championships

Posted

Cashmere High sent 18 track and field athletes to the WIAA State Track and Field State Championships on May 26-28.  The meet was held at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.  Athletes had to qualify for this meet by either being the champion in their respective events at the district 6 meet held on May 19 or by achieving a qualifying mark at the district meet that was equal to sixth place in state during previous seasons.   It was the first state championship meet held since 2019.  Athletes performed near their season bests or had personal records in the cool, windy, rainy, and occasionally filtered sunlight weather.

To earn a medal, athletes needed to finish in the top eight.

It was a good state meet for the Bulldogs and a lot of valuable state meet experience was gained by the returning athletes.  It was also a very successful spring season for the track teams.  Both girls and boys were the 2022 Caribou Trail League champions and the 2022 District 6 1A champions.  The coaches are looking forward to a very fun and successful 2023 season!
